'Writers speak in dreams. We transform simple
thoughts into the magic of the spheres. We seek to understand
human emotion, expressing it in written form, hoping that others
might learn and grow. And we take pleasure in knowing that our
thoughts, transposed onto a written page, might take flight long
after we are but dust.'
Tom Richards & Storylines Entertainment Ltd write
and develop compelling stories that reach toward an understanding
of the human experience. For information on the availability of

Talking
with Dolphins
Written by Tom Richards
Logline:
A mother is forced to risk her son’s life in a desperate attempt to
help him speak again. Only one person can cure him – an extraordinary
man who talks with dolphins.
Synopsis:
Dawn Reynolds, a passionate but opinionated single mother, has but
one important element in her life: the love for her young son Jason.
Dawn’s life is shattered when a near-drowning accident causes her
son to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The doctors state
that not only will Jason never talk again but that his life is in
danger.
With no other option open to her Dawn brings Jason to Solas Mor, an
isolated island off the coast of Ireland. There she asks Richard Larkin
for help. This silent enigmatic man is considered by the islanders
to be a freak. His miraculous ability to cure sick children by having
them swim with dolphins has brought ridicule both to himself and his
family.
Arriving on the island, Dawn also encounters Philip Manley. This hard-bitten
fisherman and self-appointed community leader has come to hate Richard,
believing that his dolphins are ruining the livelihood of the island
by chasing away the fish. Manley also comes to believe that by encouraging
Richard’s strange ways, Dawn poses a threat not only to the island,
but also to his concept of what it means to be a man.
Having finally overcome her own fear of water and the huge mammals
with which Jason must swim, Dawn not only learns to trust Richard’s
strange methods, but also finds herself falling in love with him.
However, her hopes are shattered when, without her knowledge, Manley
takes Jason in order to stop the threat that is posed to him. At sea
and in dense fog, Manley’s fishing boat runs onto a rocky coastline.
While Jason is saved, Richard is lost at sea. With Richard’s death,
Dawn’s last hope of saving her son also dies.
Yet when a lone dolphin swims up to them and embraces Jason with the
same feelings of love and hope that Richard expressed, Jason opens
his mouth and miraculously speaks. Inspired by a true story of a child
suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and who regained the
power of speech by swimming with dolphins, Talking with Dolphins explores
the mystical wonder of our relationship with these enigmatic mammals
as well as the love that can be created when we truly communicate
with, and understand, each other.
We are currently seeking co-producers to help bring alive this drama
of love and hope.
